The Best Exercise For Your Personality Type


Finding what style of workout is best for you can be a little tricky. There are seemingly endless possibilities and if you’re not used to exercising then the prospect of starting a new regime without knowing if you’ll enjoy it can be quite daunting.

However, luckily for you this article should make everything a little bit more clear. By simply sorting yourself into a personality type (or types if you can’t quite pick) then you’ll be able to work out which form of exercise is most likely going to be the best for you. This isn’t just in term of results but in terms of enjoyment, too. If you don’t enjoy a style of exercise then you’re far less likely to stick to it and that can be a real problem.


Firstly, let’s take a look at all 4 categories of personalities. Each category has it’s own subset of personality types so you can further lock into exactly what type of person you are. There are four types of analysts:

Architect: architects are imaginative and strategic thinkers who are good at planning for the future and constructing plans towards their goals.

Logician: logicians are architects with a more out-of-the-box style of thinking. They’re innovative and chase knowledge constantly.

Commander: if you’re a commander then you’re a very head strong leader. You like to be in charge and are good at making decisions.

Debater: debaters are curious and extremely intelligent. They are often called stubborn but are instead just strong willed.


Analysts will enjoy a gym approach to training where they can see their progress week by week and it’s easy to track data. Workouts should contain a mixture of time intervals such as HIIT and strength training where they can focus on lifting more weight over time.

Give this a try:

20 seconds push ups

10 seconds rest

20 seconds squats

10 seconds rest

20 seconds Australian rows

10 seconds rest

20 seconds jumping jacks

10 seconds rest

Repeat for four rounds for a total of eight minutes.



The subsets of the diplomat category are:

Advocate: advocates are usually introverted people who love to think. They often keep themselves to themselves and are very quiet but are strong idealists.

Mediator: mediators are described as poetic, kind and altruistic people who are always working for the greater good. If there’s a good cause around then you can be sure they’ll chip in.

Protagonist: a protagonist is the commander-type of the diplomats. They’re charismatic and inspiring without being too pushy but love to be in charge. They have a real ability to win the attention of anyone willing to listen.

Campaigner: campaigners are extremely passionate and creative spirits that are near impossible to put down. You’ll always see them sporting a smile and are incredibly enthusiastic about things they’re interested in.

If you’re a diplomat then you’ll be perfect for zumba and dance-style workouts. The free flowing energy and creative atmosphere of the classes makes it perfect for anyone with a spark of charisma.

If zumba isn’t quite your deal then give spinning a go. There’s always a bubbling atmosphere and loud music playing which any diplomat would thrive in.



The four types of sentinel are:

Logistician: practical members of society who work by facts and facts alone. Extremely reliable and quite straight-edge. A logistician will always tell it to you straight and true.

Defender: a defender is extremely dedicated and protective over their loved ones. A real mother-type to those that they care about.

Executive: an executive is brilliant at managing information. If you give them a task they’ll be able to sort and organise it with ease and enjoyment.

Consul: consuls are extremely caring and social creatures whom are often situated at the top of the popularity ladder. They’re warm, friendly and always eager to help out in a time of need.


Sentinels would be perfect for a circuit-style approach to fitness. The group activity where everyone is spurring each other on coupled with the multitude of tasks creates an environment where sentinels with thrive.

1 minute sprints

30 seconds burpees

30 seconds bear crawls

1 minute rest

1 minute high knees

1 minute side lunges

Lastly, explorers can be separated into these types:

Virtuoso: a virtuoso is bold and practical in their approach to life. They are frequent experiments and masters of a wide range of tools. If there’s a task at hand you can be sure that they’ll find a way that works even if it isn’t the most straight forward.

Adventurer: adventurers are flexible and very charming creators. They’re always eager to explore different routes to get to a destination and love new experiences.

Entrepreneur: entrepreneurs are constantly energetic and very smart people whom are great to have on your team. They love living life to the full and a chance not taken is a chance wasted. Smart, eager and have a passion for adapting, entrepreneurs love to take a risk even if it doesn’t always pay off.

Entertainers: no group is complete without an entertainer. They’re spontaneous, energetic and have a real thirst for life. You’ll never be bored if an entertainer is around and they’ll try their hardest to make you as excited as they are for every task you come across.
